GPR Scans

Service Cables

PVC ducts are normally transparent to GPR. However, when they are filled with electrical cables, water or other highly reflective material, they become readily detected.  In the example on the right, a cluster of parabolas can be seen below the reinforcing steel (equally spaced parabolas). The cluster is caused by the presence of several cables, each with hundreds of telephone lines.

Post Tension Cable Scans

Components in concrete beams are readily detected. In the example on the right, the precise location of the post tension beam was required. This was accomplished by mapping the stirrups and post-tensioning cables directly onto the face of the beam.

Structural Slab Scans

Single scans along a structure can produce important information on embedded materials within the structure. In example on the right, a scan has been made across a post-tensioned slab. The presence of reinforcing steel and post-tension cables are readily seen as parabolic images. The top(dark blue band) and the bottom of the slab (white band) are also easily seen. The GPR equipment allows precise measurement of the location of each of these components.
